Progress made with contractor appointment in final stage as work begins to make Forum Theatre in Romiley safe for opening

Stockport Council is now in the final stages of confirming the contractor that will undertake the repair work to enable the much-loved theatre to open as soon as it is safe to do so.

Work has already begun with temporary propping now in place to allow safe access for theatre staff and contractors and a plan has been agreed between the Council, the contractor and NK Arts to identify the key spaces that are required to enable a phased reopening. Phase 1 of the work includes the foyer, theatre, toilets and back of house areas. Phase 2 will include further support areas and community spaces.

Work will begin imminently as soon as the final details are confirmed with the newly appointed contractor.

Further updates will be provided as soon as they are available.
