Preparations are in full swing as Stockport gets its parks winter-ready
'We want our parks to be spaces where residents can enjoy fresh air, exercise, and socialise safely throughout the winter'

As winter approaches, Stockport Council is taking steps to ensure local parks and green spaces remain safe, accessible, and welcoming throughout the colder months.
Key preparations include:
• Pathway Maintenance: Clearing leaves and leaves and debris from key walking routes.
• Play Area Checks: Routine inspections of play equipment to ensure safety for year-round use.
• Greenery Pruning: Trimming overgrown vegetation to maintain clear sightlines and improve safety.
• Winter Planting: Adding hardy plants and seasonal greenery to keep parks vibrant despite the colder weather.
Cllr Grace Baynham, Cabinet Member for Parks, Highways and Transport Services, said: "Our parks are at the heart of Stockport’s community life.
“We want them to be spaces where residents can enjoy fresh air, exercise, and socialise safely throughout the winter.
“These proactive measures will ensure our green spaces remain accessible and welcoming for everyone, whatever the weather."
Residents are encouraged to report any issues or share feedback via the council’s website to help keep parks in top condition during winter.
