Polling District Review consultation enters second phase

Thank you to everyone who gave their views at the first stage of the Polling District Review consultation on the initial proposals.

Now, the views given will be taken into account, and updated proposals shared for a second phase of consultation, due to open on 25th August.

The Polling District Review looks at polling districts (which area you vote in) and polling places (where you go to vote). These are subject to change in Stockport due to the Local Government Boundary Commission for England’s review of ward boundaries, the conclusions of which were published in April. You can find out more on the ward boundary review here.

The second phase of the consultation is another chance for everyone to give their views on the proposals, which could impact where you vote. The second phase of the consultation will close on 7th October.

Following the end of the consultation, all comments will be taken into account and the final arrangement of polling districts and polling stations will be agreed by the council later in the year.

Caroline Simpson, Chief Executive and Returning Officer at Stockport Council, said: “We’re really pleased with the responses received in the first round of the polling district review consultation, and we’ve taken these into account to amend the recommendations accordingly. These amended proposals are what we need everyone to have their say on in the second phase of the consultation. This is really important; it could impact where your polling station is for the 2023 local elections. The ward boundary review may also mean that the ward you vote in has changed.”
