Pledge to become a responsible dog owner

As part of our We Love Stockport – Be Proud of Where You Live initiative we are looking for responsible dog owners to take a pledge to make Stockport an even better place to live.

Our Responsible Dog Owners Pledge aims to recognise the efforts of already responsible dog owners and ask them to become advocates and spread the word about responsible dog ownership to others. We would also like them to help us spread the word about keeping Stockport clean and tidy. The Responsible Dog Owners Pledge asks dog owners to:

• Always clear up after their dog
• Carry extra poo bags with you and give to fellow dog walkers if needed
• Encourage fellow dog walkers to be as responsible as you are

To sign up to become a We Love Stockport responsible dog owner all you have to do is visit: www.stockport.gov.uk/dogownerspledge to read the pledge and then email your interest to district.standards@stockport.gov.uk. As a thank you for signing up we will send you a free We Love Stockport poo bag holder which will clearly identify you as a responsible dog owner.

Cllr Sheila Bailey, Stockport Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing, said: “As part of our We Love Stockport campaign we are committed to tackling environmental issues such as dog fouling and fly-tipping.

“Stockport is home to many responsible dog owners and we would like to encourage them to sign up to our pledge and help us to make Stockport an even nicer place to walk and visit.”

Make sure to join the conversation and share you love for Stockport by using the hashtag #WeLoveStockport on Twitter and by setting the ‘We Love Stockport – Be Proud of Where You Live’ overlay to your profile photo on Facebook in support of the campaign.
