The first-aid training provider based in Cheadle Hulme, Millie’s Trust, has introduced the fostering friendly policy to support and encourage its employees to foster.
As a fostering friendly employer, Millie’s Trust now offers flexible working arrangements to support colleagues who are foster or kinship carers.
Dan Thompson Co-Founder and Training and Partnerships Director at Millie’s Trust said: “We recognise and value the contribution that foster carers make to society and especially the lives of children in care.
"We appreciate that foster carers need some flexibility in their working arrangements in order to meet the needs of their fostered child and being fostering friendly gives us the opportunity to provide this support and help make it possible for our colleagues to consider becoming foster carers.”
Cllr Colin MacAlister, Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Education, at Stockport Council said:
“Employers play a vital role in helping support our community of foster carers, enabling them to provide the highest standard of care for children and young people.
"We applaud Millie’s Trust for becoming fostering friendly and recognise the commitment they have shown to improving the lives of children and young people in Stockport.”
Stockport Council urgently needs more local foster carers to provide loving, safe homes for children and young people in Stockport, especially foster carers who can look after brothers and sisters so families can be kept together.
Foster carers receive training, ongoing support and receive generous tax-free allowances, plus extra for clothing, birthdays and holidays.
