Merseyway Car Park: Orange Zone repairs
The works will help to protect this town centre asset and support businesses
Merseyway Car Park is currently undergoing a programme of essential structural repairs and waterproofing works to prevent further wear and tear and to ensure the safety of those using the car park.
The works will help to protect this town centre asset and support businesses as well as providing a further boost to the town centre’s £1billion regeneration.
The works will take place in the ‘Orange Zone’ of the car park from July to the Autumn.
This zone is the main area of parking accessed from St Petersgate and the bridge over Chestergate.
Entry to the car park from this access will remain open for the majority of the works.
Some areas of the Orange Zone and the exit over the bridge will need to be closed for periods of the works, during which signage will direct to alternative spaces and exits.
Alternative vehicle exits are onto Chestergate from the lower level of the Orange Zone, or via the Redrock spiral ramp.
The nature of the works means they need to be carried out during the drier months. We are co-ordinating the works with other roadworks and events in the town centre as much as possible.
There will still be approximately 1,000 spaces open at all times within Merseyway/Redrock Car Park, with other car parks available across the town centre.
The open areas of the car park will be clearly signed, including access to Blue Badge parking.
