Merseyway adds two more national brands to its line up
High street names Trespass and Holland & Barrett have chosen Stockport’s Merseyway Shopping Centre as the home for their latest stores.
Their addition brings the occupancy in the popular shopping centre to over 95%.
The moves are fantastic news and come as the range of stores in Merseyway continues to grow, following Stockport Council’s purchase last year.
As other operators seek to open in Stockport, a number of advanced negotiations are underway promising to bring even more new stores to the shopping centre soon.
Offering outdoor clothing, footwear and accessories, Trespass opened their new store a few weeks ago and a spokesman commented ”The store has proven to be a success from day one with each weeks sales targets being met almost from the opening week. We look forward to a long and profitable presence in the Merseyway Shopping Centre.”
Holland & Barrett have also made the decision to move their town centre store into Merseyway after their success in Stockport meant they had to search for a larger shop in the town. They were keen to move into the bustling Merseyway, committing their long term future to the town.
The opportunities on offer for retailers in Stockport continue to grow as work on the Council’s £1 billion transformation of the town centre continues. Work on the neighbouring Redrock leisure development is gathering momentum ahead of its opening this November.
Combining a 10 screen cinema, restaurants and car parking, Redrock will bring thousands of new visitors into Stockport each week, to explore everything the town centre has to offer.
Councillor Kate Butler, Executive Member for Economy & Regeneration at Stockport Council said: “It’s great to be able to welcome Trespass and Holland & Barrett to Merseyway and I want to wish them every success for the future. New stores opening in Stockport is a positive sign of the improving environment our town centre offers for businesses and consumers alike.”
Commenting on the new store, Holland & Barrett’s Head of Brand & Marketing Emma Hobbs said: “We’re delighted to be a part of the Merseyway renaissance and are really excited to unveil our new store in Stockport’s Merseyway Shopping Centre. We look forward to welcoming local people to share our latest products and concepts in the health food, beauty and sports categories. All our store associates are ‘Qualified to Advise’ local customers on maintaining a healthy lifestyle, from diet and nutrition to supplementation so pop in and chat to our knowledgeable associates and browse the store.”
