Meadow Mill residents return home after Stockport Council call for urgent action

Stockport Council stepped in to push for urgent action from the building’s owners, management company, and insurer, ensuring residents could get back where they belong.

Meadow Mill suffered significant flood damage, leaving residents without essential utilities and forcing many into temporary accommodation, despite an initial swift emergency response.

Cllr Mark Hunter, Leader of Stockport Council, said: "It’s a huge relief to see Meadow Mill residents finally back home after weeks of stress and uncertainty. No one should have to go through what they have, and we’re proud to have stood by them throughout this ordeal. I’d like to thank the residents themselves for their patience and resilience, as well as all those who worked to support them during this difficult time."

The council remains in ongoing discussions with AXA and other parties and will continue to offer support where needed.
