Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III
King Charles III's coronation will take place in May

King Charles III’s Coronation will take place on Saturday, May 6 where there will be a Coronation service at Westminster Abbey.
Sunday, May 7 is being promoted by the Palace as “The Big Lunch” encouraging communities to come together and hold events and lunches/street parties.
Monday, May 8 is a bank holiday and is being promoted as “The Big Help Out” encouraging people to volunteer in their local communities. The Big Help Out seeks to match people wanting to explore volunteering opportunities with around 1500 charities and organisations, who need to increase their numbers. There is a downloadable app to ease this matching process, and a mass of useful information on the Royal website, including a link to a dedicated site for Big Help Out.
Street parties
The deadline has now passed to apply to hold a street party on the highway.
If you are having a street party that has been approved by the council, please visit the street parties webpage for guidance on staying safe and the risk assessment form to download.
You can also find information on how to stay food safe when preparing for your street party on the Stockport Council newsroom.
Civic service
The Mayor of Stockport invites all the borough’s residents to mark the Coronation of King Charles III with a special civic service at St Mary’s Church in the Market Place on Sunday 7th May at 4pm until 5pm.
The service is open to people of any faith.
The nearest car parks to where the service will be taking place are Churchgate and Newbridge Lane, but Merseyway/Redrock is also an option. In addition, all off-street parking is charged on a Sunday between 6am - 6pm at 20p an hour.
