Jam-packed with events, StockSport 2022 is nearly here
A huge free family event is coming to the town centre. Stockport Council and partners are hosting an event to encourage everyone to move more in fun and exciting ways.
Held on Sunday June 26, StockSport 2022 will be packed with free activities as well as racing and cycling events for all ages. The event is centred around two villages, in the heart of the town at Mersey Square and St Peter’s Square. It has been made possible by the generosity of StockSport’s sponsors, including Trek, musicMagpie, Edgeley Park, Safecote, Willmott Dixon and BASF.
The day will begin with a celebration of walking, jogging and running, and this family friendly festival has a distance for everyone.
There’s a route for all of those who want to have a go at their first mile starting at 9am (buggy and wheelchair friendly), followed by 5k and 10k distances at 10am, which will see runners finish right in the centre of the festival. Water will be provided on the 10k route as well as a medal for all finishers, handed out by local mascots Vernon Bear and Chase, the ACE monkey.
The races are filling up fast so make sure you secure a place on the start line and take advantage of the free Yoga Cool Down sessions on offer from our partners at Bendy Yoga.

There are lot’s of other free cycling activities to enjoy, including bike MOT’s, spin challenges, blend a smoothie bike, children’s bike circuits, and various bikes to try out, such as e-bikes and adapted trikes.

I can’t wait to see Stockport people of all ages running, cycling on our traffic-free route, and enjoying the activities. It’s all about coming together as a community to celebrate Stockport, trying something new, and seeing just how much local businesses and organisations have to offer.”
