Help us turn Stockport’s restaurants and bars into winners
Popular food events, restaurants and bars across Stockport are celebrating once again after being named in the shortlist for the sought-after Manchester Food and Drink awards.
Celebrating the excellence in food and drink, the shortlist is made up of restaurants, bars and pubs viewed as the very best in Greater Manchester by leading food and drink critics and experts.
Inclusion in the shortlist, that sets the standard for the food industry across the country, is a great honour and shines a light on Stockport’s ever growing food and drink offer which is undergoing a significant revival.
Town centre fine dining restaurant, Where The Light Gets In, is up for no fewer than four awards, with popular food event Foodie Friday in the running for the “Best Pop Up, Event or Project” award for a second time.
Last year’s chef of the year winner Matt Nutter is also in the running for his restaurant The Allotment Vegan, with Stockport’s Chaat Cart and Heaton Hops nominated too.
Now we need your help to turn our Stockport’s restaurants and bars into winners!
Online voting for the awards is open and we need you to go online and show their support for our local businesses on the Manchester Food and Drink Awards website.
The Stockport businesses included in the shortlist are:
- Where The Light Gets In, Stockport Market Place – Restaurant of the Year, Premium and Fine Dining Venue of the Year, Out of Town Venue of the Year
- Sam Buckley (Where The Light Gets In) – Chef of the Year
- Heaton Hops, Heaton Chapel – Pub / Beer Bar of the Year
- The Allotment Vegan, Stockport Market Place – Out of Town Venue of the Year
- Chaat Cart, Marple – Vegetarian Offering of the Year
- Foodie Friday – Pop Up, Event or Project of the Year

Councillor Kate Butler, Stockport Council’s Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration said: “It’s great to see so many of Stockport’s restaurants, bars and events named amongst the best in Greater Manchester and I’d like to send my congratulations to each and every one of them. It’s now our turn to help them be crowned winners. It only takes a couple of minutes to cast your vote so I’d encourage everyone to go online and show your support for your favourites, as every single vote counts.
“With thriving restaurants and more openings being announced, Stockport is quickly establishing itself as a must visit food and drink destination for our region.”
