Have you thought of childminding as a career?
As a Childminder you have the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children.
By providing the children you care for with individual play and learning opportunities, you will not only have fun, but also help them develop important life skills. It is a highly rewarding career where no two days are ever the same, and where you have the flexibility and opportunity to fit work around your family’s needs.
The Local Authority is holding an information session for people thinking of becoming Registered Childminders on Tuesday 17 April at 6.30pm in Fred Perry House.
The session will cover the Ofsted regulations for Registered Childminders, the process for training and registration, costs involved and support available, along with a chance to ask questions. There will also be an opportunity to enrol on a 10 week evening course which will then enable participants to go forward to Ofsted registration.
To help Childminders as they step into their new career, the Government is also offering £500 under the Childcare Business Grant Scheme to all newly qualified Childminders to help with them with the costs of setting up their Childminding Business. (Subject to eligibility criteria.)
It is very important to the Council that there is ongoing assistance for new Childminders. Even if someone is considering a complete career change, they will have lots of support to help them through the registration process and once they are up and running, they will also be supported to set up in business in Stockport.
Places for the Free information session must be booked in advance – Tel 0161 218 1200 or 07891949374. More information is available on the Stockport Council website.
