Have you had your flu and Covid-19 vaccine yet?

As the winter approaches, viral illnesses like flu begin to circulate more. Getting your flu and Covid-19 vaccines is a great way to look after yourself and others.

Have you had your flu and Covid-19 vaccine yet?

As part of Stockport Council’s warm and well campaign, residents are encouraged to get their flu vaccine by booking in with their GP. Eligible residents should receive a text notification informing them when it is time to come forward, or you can get in touch with your GP directly to request a flu vaccine. Most GP surgeries are also offering the Covid-19 vaccine.

You can get free flu and Covid-19 vaccines if you:

  • are 50 or over (including those who will be 50 by 31st March 2023)
  • have certain health conditions
  • are pregnant
  • are in long-stay residential care
  • receive a carer’s allowance, or are the main carer for an older or disabled person who may be at risk if you get ill
  • live with someone who is more likely to get a severe infection due to a weakened immune system

If you are not sure whether you are eligible for a flu vaccine, speak to your GP.

Covid-19 booster vaccinations are also available for eligible people. Find out more about eligibility and book your booster on the NHS website.

Councillor Mark Hunter, Leader of Stockport Council, commented: “I got my flu and Covid-19 vaccines recently, and it’s so quick and easy! Getting vaccinated is the best way to protect yourself and others you come into contact with from flu, which can be debilitating for some people. It’s a great way to ensure you stay well this winter, and it takes just a few minutes.”
