GMP hails Operation AVRO event in Stockport as a success

Operation AVRO arrived in Stockport on Thursday as GMP carried out a day of action in the borough.

The operation is the force's monthly blitz on local crime, which runs in a different district each month.

The Safer Stockport Partnership led by Stockport Police and Stockport Council played a key part in the day.

The partnership is made up of council officers in the community safety, public protection and neighbourhood enforcement teams, plus colleagues in the trading standards, licensing and Youth Justice teams.

They joined police officers in the day action, determined to keep Stockport as one of the safest boroughs in Greater Manchester.

The day started with an early morning briefing at Edgeley Park before officers carried out their roles across the borough.
