Getting jabbed is an essential part of Christmas planning

The latest vaccination walk-in centre at the One Stockport Hub in Merseyway is offering COVID-19 vaccinations to eligible people without having to plan ahead with appointments.

Based in Mersey Square, Stockport, SK1 1RA, the One Stockport Hub is close to central bus and train stations, and opens every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, from 10am until 3pm until Saturday, 18 December.

People who have had their last jab at least six months ago can go in for their booster – and that now includes people aged 40 or over. Vaccinations for 12-15 year olds who may have missed theirs can be taken to this walk-in by parents and carers. 16-18 year olds are also welcome, as are people requiring their first or second dose.

As well as its handy location for public transport and town centre parking, visitors can also access numerous amenities, shops and services.
For 16-17 year olds wanting to book their jabs, they are now also able to do this on the National Booking Service.

Dr Cath Munro, Chair of NHS Stockport Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “The convenience of the One Stockport Hub with its central location, nearby transport links, shops and amenities are proving popular with people wanting to fit their next jab into a trip to town without having to book ahead.

"We encourage people to get on top of their jabs in the coming days and weeks before Christmas. Once we start gathering in more numbers as Christmas parties and family get-togethers go ahead, we all need to feel confident and comfortable about protecting ourselves, our families and others from Covid. Getting jabbed, alongside regular hand washing and wearing a face covering in indoor public spaces, is the best line of defence we have as individuals; it's essential we take this responsibility seriously."

Councillor Jude Wells, Cabinet Member for Adult Care and Health at Stockport Council, said: “This handy town centre walk-in runs every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10am to 3pm until Saturday, 18 December. It provides a perfect opportunity to get another job ticked off our Christmas planning list because everyone should be getting jabbed before the big day and before the work parties and socialising start. We need to do all we can to protect ourselves, our colleagues and our families.

"These sessions don't need booking ahead, you can just pop in when you're doing your Christmas shopping. It doesn't matter what age you are, or which vaccination you need, this centre will support all eligible residents from 12-15 year olds who need parental consent and people aged 16+ to get the vaccination they need."
