Get involved with democracy
Celebrate and get involved with National Democracy Week (2-8 July) by being registered to vote!
Stockport’s annual canvass starts on 13th July and residents are being urged to confirm their voter registration details online once they receive their Household Enquiry Form through the post.
With local elections taking place in Stockport in May 2019, this is an important opportunity for residents to make sure they can take part.
The form ensures that Stockport Council can keep the electoral register up to date and identify any residents who are not registered so that they can be encouraged to do so. This will mean that residents will be able to take part in any future elections.
People who have moved address recently are particularly encouraged to keep an eye out for the form, check the details and confirm them online.
Pam Smith, Chief Executive and Returning Officer at Stockport Council, said: “This is your chance to get involved with democracy in our area. All you need to do is simply check the details on the form when it comes through the post and confirm them online. If you have any problems or questions, please just let us know.
“Please take time to respond to make sure you are on the electoral register. This will give you an opportunity to have your say on issues that affect you and your area as every vote counts.”
If you want to register, the easiest way is registering online, or we’ll send you information explaining how to do this in the post. In any case, you will still need to complete the form and send it back to us.
Any residents who have any questions can contact their local registration team.
