Starting tomorrow, Stockport Libraries are hosting 10 free digital training sessions for job seekers looking to improve their digital skills. The sessions, which will take place in Stockport Central Library, will be delivered by The Lloyds Bank Academy in partnership with Good Things Foundation.
Cllr Elise Wilson, Cabinet Member (Reform and Governance) at Stockport Council said: “Being online today no longer feels optional. 90% of new jobs require digital skills, yet we know around 1 in 5 adults in Stockport don’t have basic digital skills.
“We’re delighted to be working with Good Things Foundation, The Lloyds Bank Academy and a range of great partners to help build confidence and skills and open up new opportunities for people, families and communities.”
The weekly sessions are an excellent opportunity for people who are looking for work, returning to work, or working and volunteering at local charities. They will help attendees to understand the changing digital work landscape and equip them with the tools necessary to succeed.
To attend the sessions residents would need to be able to turn on a device and access the internet; open a browser and find a website; have an email account that can be accessed securely using a password and set-up an account to enable registering for an event.
There are five different sessions and residents can choose to attend either in the morning (10:00 – 13:00) or afternoon (14:00 – 17:00). Each session is stand-alone but learners would benefit from attending all five:
