Flu offer extended to social workers
Adult Social care workers in England who offer direct care are now eligible for a free flu vaccine from community pharmacies and GPs.
Staff that are eligible are health and social care workers employed by a registered residential care/nursing home or registered domiciliary care provider.
It’s recommended that staff contact their community pharmacy or GP practice to check they are providing the service, before attending.
Make sure to take appropriate ID which shows your name and your employer such as an ID badge, letter from the employer or a recent pay slip.
Councillor Tom McGee, Stockport Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, said: “We welcome the extension of the free flu jab offer to those workers who have direct contact with vulnerable residents, many of whom are at increased risk themselves from the flu virus. The flu vaccine is a very effective way to avoid flu outbreaks, so I’d urge adult social care workers to protect themselves and the people they’re caring for.”
