Family support vouchers to be provided to support residents with the cost-of-living
Stockport Council will be issuing family support vouchers this year, to help combat the cost of energy for families.
Funded by the Department for Work and Pensions’ Household Support Fund, the scheme offers vouchers towards the cost of energy to families:
- In receipt of income-based free school meals (or equivalent early years eligibility) and/or
- In receipt of local housing benefit and/or
- In receipt of council tax support
The vouchers are worth £97.50 per eligible child. The family support vouchers will be followed by a second round of vouchers distributed during mid-December for the same amount, to cover the period up to the Easter holidays 2024.
There is no need to apply for the family support vouchers scheme, and you will receive a voucher if your family is eligible. Vouchers will be distributed via email to those families where the council holds an email address as a contact detail, with letters being sent out to those where we do not hold an email address.
Please look out for the email or letter, and remember to check your spam inbox if you have not received the email.
Letters will begin to be distributed from mid-December. Vouchers can be redeemed at any local Post Office. Find your nearest branch by clicking here.

The £97.50 is designed to provide support over the summer season, with families receiving another voucher in the autumn for the same amount. Make sure you don’t miss out and redeem your voucher before the expiry date!”
