Fall in love with your local library

Looking for a summer romance? Look no further than your local Stockport library this summer!

Whether you’re after a holiday fling with a great book, or you’re looking to get into a series longer term, there’s something for everyone at Stockport libraries. If you’re jetting off or just staycation-ing this summer, your local library can help find the perfect book to take along for the ride. If you can’t get down to the library in person, why not try the Borrowbox app? It allows you to access thousands of great eBooks and eAudiobooks from wherever you are, completely free. What’s not to love?!

If you’re heading abroad this summer but want to keep up with the news wherever you are, try the Pressreader app. You’ll be able to download and read the latest copies of hundreds of newspapers and magazines from across the world: again, free with your library membership.

That’s not all, though. There are so many more reasons to fall in love with your local library, both this summer and beyond. Access the free public PCs or bring your own device to use the free WiFi, and get online fast. Struggle with digital? Our libraries staff can help put you in touch with the Digiknow team, who can help you get online and show you how to do useful things like shopping, filling in online forms, managing your healthcare, and much more.

After meeting new people? If you’re staying in Stockport this summer, why not join in your local library’s coffee morning, or ‘Knit and Knatter’ group? It’s the perfect way to make new friends, catch up with old ones, or just socialise by visiting a safe space. Details can be found at the What’s On events calendar.

Your Stockport library is great with children, too. Whether you’ve got primary-aged children joining in the Summer Reading Challenge, or you have older children who might need help with their homework upon returning to school after the holidays, your local library and its friendly staff can help with that. Storytimes for under 5s also continue throughout the summer holidays, so you can come along with your little ones to hear stories, rhymes and songs to keep them engaged and on-track with learning to read. Find the next events via our What’s On calendar.
