Extended vaccination options until the end of January

Vaccination options across Stockport have been extended by Health Chiefs until the end of January in a bid to increase the number of people who are protected against COVID-19.
Both the One Stockport Hub in Mersey Square, Stockport Town Centre, SK1 1RA, and Trinity Methodist Church, 351 Bramhall Lane, Bramhall, SK3 8TP have extended their vaccination offer until Saturday, 29 January, 2022. There’s no need to book an appointment at either now; just walk in and get vaccinated.
The One Stockport Hub is open Tuesdays through to Saturdays from 10am until 3pm and Trinity is open seven days a week from 8am until 6pm. Both sites continue to offer first, second or booster vaccinations to all those who are eligible.
Anyone aged 16+ who has had their second dose at least three months ago is now eligible for a booster. It is also not too late for those who haven’t yet had a vaccination to get their first or second vaccinations. This includes 16 and 17 year olds who are able to attend these clinics although 12 weeks must have passed since a first dose to get the second.
12 -15’s who had their first vaccination three months ago should get their second dose. There are more options for this age group now. They can get vaccinated at either the One Stockport Hub or Trinity Methodist Church.
- Anyone aged 12-15 years old can walk in for their vaccination every Saturday in January from 10am to 3pm at the One Stockport Hub, Mersey Square.
- Trinity Methodist Church also offers 12-15 years olds vaccinations (with or without an appointment) either before or after school as it is open seven days a week from 8am until 6pm.
The school vaccination programme also restarts on Thursday, 13 January, 2022, providing 12-15s with the option of being vaccinated within the school day. Parental consent forms must be signed for these to take place.
Parents can contact the School Nursing Service for advice and support about the vaccination programme on 0161 474 5912.
Children can contact a text-based service, ChatHealth, on 07480 635 227, where they can chat with a school nurse for confidential advice and support. This is not limited to questions about the vaccine.
Bookable appointments at several venues, including Trinity, are also available for those who prefer to book online or by calling 119 for free.
Anyone registered with a GP practice in Stockport and eligible may also be contacted by their GP practice as they finalise arrangements for their own vaccination clinics. You don’t need to contact them, but you don’t need to wait either. Simply book an appointment at an existing clinic or take advantage of one of the walk-ins.
Dr Cath Munro, Chair of NHS Stockport Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “It is essential that everybody takes time to get vaccinated as it protects you from serious illness and makes you less likely to spread COVID-19, keeping your friends and family from getting seriously ill from COVID-19.
“The vaccination offer has been extended to make it possible for everyone who is eligible to get theirs. Two doses of the COVID-19 vaccination are not enough to protect against the Omicron variant and the booster dramatically improves this protection.
“12-15’s have more options now too with the school vaccination programme re-starting on Thursday as well as the option of walk-in’s that fit around their school day.”
Councillor Jude Wells, Cabinet Member for Adult Care and Health at Stockport Council, said: “While our vaccination and booster rates are fantastic in Stockport and I thank each and everyone who has had one so far, it’s not too late to have yours if you haven’t had one yet. So as 2022 begins, the best thing you can do to ensure the new year is a healthy one is get vaccinated and it’s not too late to get down to the One Stockport Hub or Trinity vaccination centre to do your bit to help keep themselves, their friends, loved ones and community protected from Covid if you haven’t had one yet.”
