Edgeley, Great Moor and Reddish libraries go Open+

Residents are set to benefit as three more Stockport libraries introduce Open+ this week.

Open + allows residents to use the library for extra hours each week, outside staffed hours. You can pick up reserved items, borrow and return books, or use the library computers and free Wi-Fi when it’s more convenient for you.

From this week this new service is being introduced to better serve communities who rely on the wide range of services libraries offer.

Kirsteen Roe, Service Director for Citizen Focus, said: “Open+ is a great way for residents to get the most out of their local library. Once locals have signed up the scheme they can use the library at a time convenient to them, making our services more available to those who may not be able to use the library during staffed hours.”

If you’d like to use your library for longer, you’ll need to register. Call into one of the Open+ libraries with proof of identity and proof of address and take an Open+ tour of the library. If you’re one of the 3,000 people who’ve already registered for Open+, there’s no need to register again.

After registering you can use Open+ facilities at any library where you’ve taken an induction tour.

Open+ is now available at 12 of Stockport’s 16 libraries: Bramhall, Bredbury, Cheadle, Cheadle Hulme, Hazel Grove, Heatons, Heald Green, High Lane, Edgeley, Great Moor, Reddish and Marple.

Visitors using the libraries in Open+ hours will find them brightly lit and welcoming, with the added reassurance of monitored CCTV coverage.
