Doing Dementia Differently Success
Doing Dementia Differently, a powerful evening of music, film and theatre performance was held at Stockport Town Hall’s Ballroom on May 24th.
Around four hundred people enjoyed the free event which was organised as part of National Dementia Action Week.
This year Stockport’s Intergenerational Choir formed from pupils from Stockport School and EDUCATE ( a Stockport based group of people living with dementia) were joined by “Together in Song” a Gospel choir from Manchester and the “Dementia Diarists” who recited their powerful stories.
The event organised by Pennine Care Foundation Trust, EDUCATE,Stockport Council, Stockport School and NHS Stockport CCG has become an annual event and uses performing arts to celebrate the achievements of people living with dementia.
Councillor Wendy Wild, Stockport Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, said
“It was a truly inspiring and moving evening and I would like to say a big thank you to the volunteers from EDUCATE and all the other organisations and performers who helped make this wonderful event such a success.”
