Council launches new training guide to help keep young pedestrians safe

Stockport Council has developed a new road safety activity booklet for young people and parents, continuing its commitment to improving road safety across the borough.

The booklet will be used to support the Council’s ‘Step Outside’ training programme, which equips young pedestrians with the skills to deal with the road environment.

The booklet is filled with activities and advice to help children and their parents to stay safe when out walking near to and across the road. It has been developed with the help and support of teachers, parents and children across the borough and funded by Transport for Greater Manchester.

Councillor Dean Fitzpatrick, Stockport Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, said: “Far too many children are knocked down and hurt on our roads, so I’m delighted that this activity booklet will complement our existing training programme in schools and help keep our children safe on and near the road.”
