Call to vote in the Stockport Open Exhibition 2018
Stockport Council is calling on the public to vote for their favourite artwork in this year’s Stockport Open Exhibition.
The exhibition is being held at Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery until the 6th September. It showcases entries from artists, digital designers, sculptors, photographers, textile artists from Stockport and across the North West.
This year 355 pieces of artwork were submitted and 215 artworks have been selected by a panel of judges for exhibition.
There are two People Choice awards one for adults and one for children.
So far 900 votes have been cast and voting closes on the 31st August.
Councillor Kate Butler, Stockport Council’s Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration said:
“Once again we have received some outstanding entries from emerging and established artists from Stockport and across the Northwest. I would encourage people to come along to view this fantastic exhibition and cast their vote for their favourite art work.
“The Stockport Open Exhibition is a great opportunity for everyone to enjoy the growing art scene in Stockport and visit one of our many outstanding museums.”
Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery is open at the following times:
Monday (Except Bank holidays): Closed
Tuesday to Friday: 1pm to 5pm
Saturday: 10am to 5pm
Sunday: 11am to 5pm
Bank holidays: 11am to 5pm
The winners will be announced by the Mayor of Stockport on Saturday 1st Sept at 3pm at Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery. Refreshments will be available from 2pm – 4pm that day.
Artwork from the exhibition is available to purchase and can be secured by a 10% deposit, with the balance payable at the end of the exhibition.
