Applications now open for Stockroom Creative Commissions and Kick Start Grants
Local artists and creatives are being given the opportunity to apply for Creative Commissions and Kick Start programming grants

Stockroom, Stockport’s exciting new creative and cultural centre, is set to open next year and to celebrate this, local artists and creatives are being given the opportunity to apply for Creative Commissions and Kick Start programming grants. Designed as a space for getting together, getting involved, or just popping by for a brew, Stockroom will feature a new library, children’s creative learning space, café bar, and Stockport’s historical archives.
The Creative Commissions will fund projects including murals and window installations and are open to professional artists, ideally with a personal or professional connection to Stockport, The Kick Start grants are focused on helping individuals and organisations deliver events which could include music performances, comedy, festivals, or other cultural programming, all designed to engage the community and showcase local talent. Artists and event organisers will work closely with the people of Stockport, emphasising Stockroom’s ethos of being “of, with and for Stockport.”
Cllr Frankie Singleton, Cabinet Member for Communities, Culture and Sport at Stockport Council, said: “Stockroom is all about the community, and we want to create this space with the people of Stockport. We’re excited to offer these grants and get local people involved in creating art and also delivering events that will engage and inspire the town. I can’t wait for Stockroom to open next year and show everyone what it’s all about.”
Applications are open until October 28, 2024. To apply and find out more visit the website.
