From 13 January 2023 we no longer provide a local land charges search service.

After this date, our Local Land Charges Register will migrate to HM Land Registry’s national register. You will be able to access the new digital service through:

We will continue to provide replies to Con29 enquiries.

It's important to remember to only submit the required fee of £138.00 when submitting a CON29 enquiry to us after 13 January 2023.

All Con29 search requests should be submitting by emailing landcharges@stockport.gov.uk.

You'll need to send your completed forms with a plan of the property or land. The plan will need to be an OS plan (scale 1:1250) which clearly shows the surrounding roads.

Payments for searches

You can either pay for a search through your bank or by using a payment card. We do not accept payment by cheque for any service.

If you’re paying by card, we’ll send you an email with a link to our payment page when you make your request.

To pay through your bank, you need to have emailed us and agreed the service first. Then make your payment to:

You must quote 'LCAP' and the postcode of the address in the payment reference.

Our fees are the same for residential and commercial properties and land.

Submitting a local land charges search for more than one property

If you're submitting more than one property for a local land charges search you can pay an additional £38.40 if the property is at the same location, for example if it's next door.

If the property is in a different location you'll need to submit two separate searches.

We aim to send the search results back to you within 5 to 10 working days.

Please note we do not offer an expedited service so you'll need to submit your search within plenty of time.
