The opportunity and vision
The Stockport Town Centre East Strategic Regeneration Framework (SRF) delivers a vision for transformational change across Stockport Town Centre East over the next 15 years, reimagining the area into the series of vibrant, sustainable neighbourhoods that set a new standard for urban living in the UK.
The SRF builds upon on Stockport's ongoing £1 billion town centre regeneration programme, which has already seen significant progress in Town Centre West, including the delivery of 1,200 new homes and substantial private sector investment.
The SRF aims to deliver an additional 4,000 homes in Town Centre East, contributing to a total of 8,000 new homes across the town centre. This continued transformation highlights Stockport's unparalleled regeneration potential, aligning with the "One Future Vision" to make the borough an optimal place for healthy living.
The framework aims to address current needs while planning for the future, ensuring that Stockport remains a great place to live, work, and visit.
By setting out a structured yet flexible strategy, the Stockport Town Centre East SRF aims to create a vibrant and successful urban area that builds on the successes of Stockport Town Centre West.
An SRF is not a planning application, and the illustrative proposals outlined in the masterplan do not represent fixed parameters. All future planning proposals within the Town Centre will need to comply with the Council’s latest adopted development plan and material considerations.
