Who is eligible for HAF
Only children who receive targeted free school meals are eligible for a funded HAF space.
If you think you might be eligible for targeted free school meals but do not currently claim them, find out how to apply.
Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 who receive universal infant free school meals are not automatically eligible for HAF. However, if you have a child in these year groups and meet the eligibility criteria for targeted free school meals, please do still apply. This could potentially open you up to being eligible for HAF spaces.

If you're eligible for expanded free school meals, you're not entitled to HAF. You're entitled to free meals within a school only.
You can find out if you're eligible for targeted or expanded free school meals on your confirmation letter from when you applied.
If you're not eligible
If your child does not receive income-based free school meals but you feel that you need to access a funded space, we can offer a small number of spaces to non-eligible children.
To access one of these spaces you'll need a referral from a professional such as a teacher, teaching assistant, social worker or support worker with a brief overview of the reason your child requires a space.
There are a very small number of spaces available for children who are not eligible and we cannot guarantee your child a space.

Please note: we are not able to offer spaces to children who are not eligible for targeted income-based free school meals on our 1:1 supported SEND clubs.
