How to pay your Council Tax

4. Other ways to pay

Pay online through your bank

The Council's bank details for receiving payment are:

Barclays Bank Plc
Sort Code: 20-05-25
Account Number: 10840181

Please note: you must quote your Council Tax Account Reference number when paying online through your bank.

You should allow up to 5 working days for the payment to reach your account. You should send any remittance advices that confirm the way a payment should be allocated to receipts@stockport.gov.uk.

Over 12 months

If you would like to pay your bill over 12 months instead of 10, please use our online form to let us know.

Providing you do this before 1 March, we can make sure this arrangement is included on your bill for the new financial year.

Any requests made after the annual bills have been issued will include instalments. These are apportioned to equal the number of whole months left in the financial year.

At a Post Office

Take your bill with you and use the barcode on the front to make payments by cash (or debit / credit card if the outlet accepts these). You should allow up to 5 working days to reach your account.

By post

Pay by cheque through the post. Cheques should be made payable to Stockport Council and sent to:

Technical & Exchequer Services
Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council
Town Hall
Stockport
SK1 3XE

Write your name, address and account number on the back of the cheque. Cheques must not be post-dated. Please enclose a stamped self addressed envelope if you want a receipt.

On a range of dates

If you would like to pay weekly or fortnightly, please contact the office and this can be arranged for you.
