Housing Needs Assessment

We carried out a survey to look at the current and future housing needs of all local residents. The Housing Needs Assessment (HNA) looked at various issues, including:

• residents’ incomes
• their housing aspirations and needs
• their plans for moving home or staying put

The extent of need for affordable accommodation in the borough continues to be high, with a particular requirement for 1 to 3-bed houses and 1-bed flats. The shortage of affordable family accommodation in the borough means that turnover is very low.

There continues to be a particular need for supported and specialist accommodation, especially for older people.

The HNA sets out where this need exists across for the borough and recommends the type and tenure of housing which the council should be seeking from future homes.
