Housing Plan overview

The Housing Plan 2022 to 2027 draws together all the housing issues that we currently face into one comprehensive document in the context of an ageing population, new government policies, a fast-changing local housing market and a challenging economic climate.

It also outlines our long term housing vision and what is required to move forward over the next 5 years. Within this plan, we have set out a number of aims and priorities that will form the focus for delivery over the coming years.

Our vision is that by 2030, everyone in Stockport will be able access the right homes in the right places at the right time. Those homes will be affordable, safe, sustainable and contribute towards flourishing communities and independent living. In order to achieve our vision, our Housing Plan is built around 4 themes:

  1. Delivering new homes
  2. Fair and inclusive homes
  3. Safe, healthy and climate friendly homes
  4. Flourishing neighbourhoods
