About the Household Support Fund
The Household Support Fund, provided by the UK Government, was introduced in October 2021 to support vulnerable households with essentials like food and energy costs.
For the period 1 September 2024 to 31 March 2025, Stockport has been allocated £2,163,129.71.
The objective of the Household Support Fund is to provide crisis support to vulnerable households in most need with the cost of essentials.
The Household Support Fund is there to help low-income households, including:
- families
- pensioners
- unpaid carers
- care leavers
- disabled people
The fund can be used to support households by helping with:
- energy and water bills
- food
- white goods, including fridges, freezers and ovens
- housing costs in exceptional circumstances
- wider essentials including:
- broadband
- phone bills
- clothing including school uniform
- period and hygiene products
- essential transport-related costs
