Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment
Every Health and Wellbeing Board in England has a statutory responsibility to publish and keep an up to date statement of needs for pharmaceutical services of the population in its area. This is referred to as a Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA).
PNAs are comprehensive assessments of the current and anticipated pharmaceutical needs of the community. They help local commissioners and service providers by giving an evidence base on how best to plan and commission pharmacy services to meet the needs of the population.
2022 to 2025 Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment
Stockport Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment 2022 was produced by Stockport's Health and Wellbeing Board and published in October 2022.
In 2023, the closure of 2 pharmacies in Stockport has led to a significant change in provision. Stockport's Health and Wellbeing Board have issued a supplementary statement to the Stockport Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment.
As pharmacy provision or population health needs in Stockport change between 2023 and 2025, further supplementary statements to this PNA may also be published.
The next full Stockport PNA is due for publication by 31 October 2025.
