We're responsible for dealing with spillages on the road that could cause an immediate hazard to road users or to the environment.
Hazardous spillages include:
- oil, diesel, petrol or brake fluid
- sand, gravel and other building materials
- dropped loads like steel, glass and containers
- hazardous materials like asbestos
Spillages can lead to road traffic accidents and/or pollution depending on the nature of the spillage. We aim to deal with them as soon as possible.
If you're concerned about the nature of a spillage, do not approach it. If you have details of the vehicles which spilt the materials or the individuals involved, do not approach them. However, do pass any relevant information on to us.
