What we do

Stockport Samaritans took its first call over 40 years ago. The service is needed as much today as it was all those years ago, as a listening ear for our local community, with ordinary people supporting those struggling to cope, round the clock, every single day of the year.

From our base in Heaton Moor, we offer emotional support by person, by telephone, by email and by text. However, we proudly support the whole of Stockport, as well as Tameside and neighbouring areas.

In 2016, our Stockport branch took over 27,000 calls for help.

Samaritans of Stockport is part of Samaritans, a charity registered in England and Wales (219432) and in Scotland (SC040604) and incorporated in England and Wales as a company limited by guarantee (757372).
