What we do

We have a broad range of information and support for anyone with an unpaid caring role in Stockport. If you wake up thinking about someone that needs additional help, whether it's practical or emotional, due to illness, disability, addiction or frailty, then you are a carer and we're here to care for you.

Our work starts with young carers (from age 6), and there is no upper age limit.

We offer:

• supportive and productive conversations about your caring role and the impacts that it has on your life
• contingency planning information and tools
• support with accessing benefits and entitlements, including crisis payments for carers
• signposting and information about other carer support available locally, regionally and nationally
• practical information and training Online and face to face social and peer support opportunities
• counselling at a cost of £15 per session and emotional support
• statutory carers assessments, with support plans
• referrals to respite such as CareFree and our Take A Break scheme
• networking opportunities, ways to get your voice heard and tell commissioners and decision makers what life is like for you as a carer
• volunteering opportunities
• awareness raising
• support once your caring role comes to an end
• continence products, subject to availability
