What we do
We're a friendly, welcoming group and a branch of the brain injury association.
We promote the understanding of all aspects of brain injury, and provide support and information for the head injured, their families and carers.
If you'd like to get involved please come to our weekly drop-in session on Wednesdays from 1pm to 3pm and introduce yourself to one of our volunteer helpers.
Or come to one of our monthly meetings held on the third Thursday evening of the month (no meetings in August and December) where we have social events, occasional speakers or discussions on relevant topics. These are held at various locations depending on the activity. Details are given at our weekly drop-in session or can be found in our e-newsletter. Please ask to join our mailing group.
There is no membership fee or charge for attending our drop-ins or meetings. Sometimes we do ask for contributions towards the cost of outings which we subsidise from our own fundraising.
New members usually need to be accompanied by someone who knows them well on their first four visits. After that we review the need for this, which may have to be ongoing, as we are unable to provide care. A basic registration form has to be filled in including emergency contact details etc.
For further information please visit the Headway Stockport website. You may also want to visit the Head Forward website, which we are closely associated with. They run a day centre in Withington.
If you plan to attend our drop-in or meetings, please call 07733 320049 to let our volunteers know when to expect you.
Note that parking and the entrance to the basement is via a ramp (behind hedge) at the rear of the building. This is next to the Heatons Library.
