What we do
We specialise in care for people who are deaf and/or autistic with additional complex needs, often presenting with challenging behaviours.
We provide a safe environment for our residents to receive specific support and care packages. We tailor services to meet very individual needs so that they can maximise their potential for development through access to learning and equality of opportunity.
Our home is set in its own extensive grounds at the end of a short access road and is close to all local amenities. We have 2 six bedded bungalows which are joined together by a communal dining room. There are 12 single, ensuite bedrooms.
Each bedroom comes fully furnished, but residents can use their own furniture if they choose. Each bedroom has a TV socket and facilities to use personal items such as shavers, hair dryers and CD players. Residents are encouraged to choose the decoration of their rooms. 4 of the bedrooms have overhead tracking for people with physical disabilities. All bedrooms are lockable and residents have the opportunity to be responsible for their own room key.
Special consideration is made to all with reference to deaf culture. For example; staff will flick light switches and wait for the door to be answered in order to maintain privacy and dignity. Only female staff will assist and support with female residents personal needs.
Each bungalow has a large lounge and 2 activity rooms for residents to relax in and pursue their interests. There's a patio between the bungalows and pleasant grounds suitable for those interested in gardening or walking. There are picnic tables and chairs for relaxation and barbecues.
There are 2 laundry rooms, a catering kitchen and a resident's kitchen. The kitchen area has fully adjustable working tops, cookers and ancillary equipment for wheelchair users, as do the 2 laundry rooms. Residents have a choice of meals which they choose from the hostess server. Meals are varied and special diets are also catered for.
Our home has been designed to create a modern, comfortable atmosphere. It gives our residents a sense of belonging and an opportunity to build social attachments with the staff.
