What we do

The Friends' group is for people with a passion for the Hall and Park. Over the past few years we've raised over £35k for improvements to the area. The Small Dining Room was completely restored by us working with council experts, and the park now has a large restored Victorian Rock Garden. We've just installed a new sundial near the Hall's entrance.

Plans for the near future include significant extension of the gardens.

The Hall also contains wall paintings from the early 16th century which are internationally important. We are raising funds which will preserve, catalogue and display them to reveal their original beauty and detail.

Membership of the Friends costs £15 a year. For this small sum you'll be able to visit all Stockport's museums - Bramall Hall, Staircase House, Stockport Museum, Hat Works and the Air Raid Shelters - for free. You'll also get 10% off any purchase in their shops and there'll be discounted tickets to many of the council's cultural events.

We've a good number of volunteers but new ones are always welcome. Some of us do a twice weekly gardening session and others are guides and stewards in the Hall.
