SK Inc: Children in Care Council

About us
-
Location
Woodbank Young People Centre, Turncroft Lane, Offerton, Stockport, SK1 4BN
What we do
SK Inc is for young people aged 11+ who are in care. Most of the young people who have attended the group are in the care of Stockport Council, but it is also open to young people who live in Stockport but are in the care of another council.
Sessions happen 2 x per month (1st & 3rd Thursday 4:30-6:00pm). The young people can take part in art, sport and social activities. We always cook a meal, which the young people help prepare. During the sessions the young people have the opportunity to talk about, and do things to improve the experience of being in care. Sometimes this involves senior leaders and outside organisations coming to meet with the young people to get their views on a particular topic.
There are also opportunities to meet up with other young people in care from the northwest of England and from other parts of the country.
