What we do

We are a small group of around 20 people formed in April 2010.

We meet on Tuesday afternoons to paint in a variety of media - some are absolute beginners, others are more experienced.

We're mainly self-taught with occasional demonstrations/ workshops from professional artists. Plus, we have the odd trip out to visit galleries and interesting places.

We hold an annual exhibition and produce our own calendar each year. The calendar is always a sell-out in our local community.

Our members are mostly in the older age bracket. This weekly session helps them to get out and meet other people in a friendly and sociable atmosphere.

We don't increase the fees when a professional artist visits. We also provide all the materials that members need for the session.

Our members have won prizes at local art shows and have sold a few paintings.

We organise a field trip every year to somewhere picturesque so that they can broaden their experience. It's also a chance for them to enjoy a day out as a break from their dreary urban environment.

Residents who enjoy being creative are brought together in a friendly, sociable environment.

We aim to improve their skills by hiring professional artists and offer advice and guidance from experienced group members.

Most of our members have serious or life-threatening medical conditions. Our weekly sessions help to give them the opportunity to forget their problems for a while and improve their self-esteem.
