Next steps
The data shows us that our current areas of work will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions where it’s needed most. But we know that there is a huge amount of work needed to meet the 2030 net zero target.
In future, we're going to:
develop a district heat network, which will supply renewable energy to replace gas in public buildings along the A6
work with TLC to find alternatives to diesel fuel in fleet vehicles in the short-term and explore switching to electric vehicles in the long-term
continue to buy 100% renewable electricity for council buildings, and look for opportunities to install more solar panels on council buildings
collaborate with key partners to make sure the data we collect is accurate and reliable to improve on our analysis of greenhouse gas emissions
use the emissions data to create targets to help us reduce greenhouse gas emissions further
use the data to explore how we can offset our emissions through expanding tree planting initiatives and other nature-based solutions
