Plan your journey

Google maps is a tool which you can access on most devices including a phone. It can help you plan a route and get directions and travel times.

If cycling you can use Cyclestreets journey planner.

Information on Public Transport and other travel options can be found on the TfGM website.

Leave home a little earlier to walk to school or to park and stride

Park away from school or get dropped off part way on your journey and walk the rest of the way. This reduces parking issues around the school and improves safety.

Be safe be seen

Brighten up your clothing, attach reflective stickers, strips or key rings to school bags. Make sure you have a white light on the front of your bike and a red one at the back as well as reflectors.

Use safe places

Cross roads where you can see traffic clearly and drivers can see you. Use pedestrian crossings.

Be alert

Avoid using headphones or a mobile phone whilst riding or crossing a road. You need to look and listen all the time.
