DigiKnow: Help getting online

We can help you learn how to do things online, even if you do not have access to the internet at home.

Learn how to do things online

If you need help to get online, library staff can help you get the support you need to learn the basics or develop your skills further.

There are free group classes across Stockport to help you get online and stay safe online. Many community groups also offer help with digital skills along with their regular activities. To find a group near you, use our online group directory.

Social tariffs

Social tariffs are cheaper broadband and phone packages for those on low incomes. This could mean a saving of around £180 a year. If you receive benefits, you could be eligible. Find out more on Ofcom's website.

Buy a low cost, refurbished device

You can buy a refurbished device at a low cost from Community Computers. This also comes with help to get online. To find out more or buy a device visit the Community Computers website.

If you do not have access to the internet at home, you may be able to borrow a device and get data from the DigiKnow Device Library for free. I think this is a brilliant service for those that do not have computers. It has been a real life saver in helping my daughter stay on track with her work.
