Funded childcare for children living with foster carers

Two women are sat talking with a young girl. They're all smiling, and are sat on a bench with Stockport's viaducts behind them.

Children that are in foster care may be eligible for 30 hours of funded childcare.

Eligibility

To apply for the 30 hours funded childcare, you must:

  • be a foster carer
  • be in paid employment outside of your foster carer role
  • have the support of a social worker

It must also be agreed that accessing the extended hours is consistent with the child’s care plan.

If you have a partner who's a foster carer, they must also meet the above criteria. If you have a partner who's not a foster carer, they must meet the current 30 hours eligibility criteria.

How to apply

If you're eligible, ask your social worker to email our early years team at eyportal@stockport.gov.uk.
