A significant number of the young people who need foster care in Stockport are older children and teenagers. Many of these young people will have experienced difficulties at home and will benefit from guidance and support from foster carers, especially during their teenage years.

What you can offer

The young people come from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds and it’s important that we recruit foster carers from a range of backgrounds to reflect the diversity of the young people themselves. Find out more about the general criteria that must be met to become a foster carer.

Payments and allowances

Depending on the age of the child, you could earn up to £431.58 per week. You’ll also receive additional payments for holidays, birthdays and festivals.
