Temporary traffic regulation orders (TTROs) for public rights of way
You can request a TTRO to temporarily close a public right of way if you need to carry out work in the area. There are 2 types of TTRO which you can request.
Emergency closure
You can request an emergency closure if a public right of way has become obstructed or if there's a hazard to members of the public. An emergency closure order will last 21 days. You'll need to pay a fee of £691.
Planned work closure
If you're planning to carry out work on a public right of way, you can request a planned work closure for up to 6 months. We'll need at least 3 weeks to process a request for a planned work closure. You'll need to pay a fee of £1034.
