Trading standards

Trading Standards enforce the legislations relating to food labelling, food composition, weighing & measuring equipment and checking goods. They are also responsible for ensuring that packages contain the correct measure.

Officers undertake routine food standards inspections to food businesses within Stockport. They then carry out surveys and investigate enquiries from consumers in various areas.

Sampling programmes are undertaken to ensure food meets labelling and compositional requirements in accordance with regional and national enforcement priorities.
