1. Council Tax flood grant
If you live in Stockport and your property was flooded between 28 July and 9 August 2019, you could be eligible for a grant of £200 and a 100% Council Tax freeze for up to 4 months.
The definition of flooding in this scheme is taken from the National Flood Emergency Framework for England as follows:
"Properties flooded are those where it is considered that the property has been flooded internally i.e. water has entered the property:
- basements and below ground level floors are included
- garages are included if in the fabric of the building. Garages adjacent or separate from the main building are not included
- includes occupied caravans and park homes, but not tents
This grant does not cover water damage caused by failure of a water main, internal water systems or a sewerage system - unless the failure was itself caused by the adverse weather conditions.
When submitting your application please provide photographic evidence of the flooding to your property.
It will also help us make a decision if you can provide evidence of any insurance claim you have made following the flooding of your property.
Please note: you can upload 3 images or 3 documents with your application of up to 30Mb each. If you have more than 3 images, we recommend you reduce their size and copy and paste them into a word document to upload them.
Only properties affected by the flooding, as affected in the scope outlined above are eligible for this funding. Please only apply if you meet the above criteria or you'll be required to return the funding.
Stockport Council will, under no circumstances, be liable for any damage, injury or loss of any kind whatsoever to any property or persons occurring as a result of activities undertaken with this award.
